For those seeking a truly unique instrument and who want to experience 19th piano music the way it was played and heard when it was written - this is a very rare opportunity to acquire a mid-19th century piano in close to original condition and yet still in fine working order. With 82 keys in original perfect ivory and ebony, all original strings and hammers, new damper felts and key cloth and punchings. This instrument, typical of Broadwood grands of the period, are straight-strung and employ the "English Grand Action" favoured by many performers including Chopin, who used Broadwood pianos on his last tours. Perfect for the appreciation of all early piano music, and for Mozart, Hadyn and other chamber music, even Schubert songs. As well as a fine musical instrument, it is a beautiful work of cabinet artistry, finished in a "tortoise shell" burr walnut with ebony accents. Similar instruments can be seen in English mystery movies such as the Midsomer Murders and Marple series. All veneer is in good shape. Ready to be enjoyed in its current condition (and tuned 1/2 T flat) or could be rebuilt to return it to perfect original condition.
